“Change is moving in the right direction. It’s not about speed, distance, or perfection, but direction.”

What Guides My Counseling

You are an image bearer and meaning maker.

God created all people in His image, giving each person value, worth and purpose. We are also meaning makers – we seek to make sense of hard things. This is hard work that provokes many questions: Who am I? Who is God? How do I find meaning in the midst of the struggles I am facing? It is in these moments that we can feel stuck and our faith seems disconnected.

In counseling, I desire to listen to your story and understand you. As I am hearing the ways that you are struggling, I am allowing the Bible to shape my understanding. God is so generous to have given us His Word so that we can make accurate sense and redeem how we view Him, ourselves, others, and our experiences. There is great help and hope when understanding our life in light of the gospel.

Entering into Your World

You are wonderfully unique. Your story matters.

The decision to engage in counseling is a courageous one. It is an honor to come alongside those I counsel in the midst of their vulnerabilities and struggles. We are diverse and complex persons, bringing a spiritual, emotional, physical and social component to our difficulties. To care for you, I strive to be a student of you. To understand what makes you tick, to sit with you in the midst of your pain, to meet you where you are, and to help you process in light of the Scriptures. Ultimately, I want to point you to a God that more sufficiently knows your struggle, cares about you and walks alongside you.

The Process

God is at work in your story.

The pace at which growth and change happen can be slow and gradual. It is hard work to see and apply gospel relevance in our day to day lives. The application of Scripture is meaningful, purposeful and personal; what helps one person may not help another. My goal in counseling is to help you wisely and practically apply gospel truth to your life, bringing you to a God that loves you immeasurably.

Your Word is to be desired more than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.

Psalm 19:10
